New air ambulance launches at Weston Manor

On Tuesday 8th April 08, Weston Manor played host to Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance for the launch of their new helicopter. The helicopters were due to land at 12noon but as luck would have it the new helicopter was called away to assist an emergency.  
 
The Cornwall Air Ambulance, of the same type as the new Thames valley aircraft was able to assist as a last minute replacement, landing on the Helipad at the rear of the hotel at a little after 2pm. The helicopters were opened for inspection by the local community and press. The new purpose built helicopter will now take the place of the old helicopter which has been a vital link for the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air ambulance trust saving hundreds of lives.  
 
The Trust is a charity which receives no funding from the NHS or from the National Lottery, but relies entirely on sponsorship, donations and fundraising activities to meet the running cost of £1.2M per annum.
